View from plane. Astangu is in the upper part, Väike-Õismäe in the lower part. The yellow building in the centre is for handicapped people. The walking and sporting path is also visible in the upper left corner.
Photos taken from this path.
This one looked new to me so I went back later.
A brand new area over here!
Karsti buildings were close.
The same building finished seen from Pärnu mnt.
Haabersti buidings in front and St. Olaf church with lower towers far away, interesting view from the roof (parking lot) of Rocca al Mare huge shopping centre.
Together with Väike-Õismäe towerblocks.
Houses at Narva mnt.
This was Hungarian embassy.
KUMU art museum.
This is Narva mnt. and "rebuilding" of the formerly brutally demolished building "Must Luik" ("Black Swan") is going on. That house was so nice... I don't have photos of the building unfortunately, nor from the new one. They tried to make it at least similar. One of the reasons for demolishing was said "it had become cheap" because of supermarket and drunkards... Let's hope it is not so anymore then. I don't know, I barely happen to there, and if I do, I usually pass it on the bus.
Maarjamäe / Centre
This is close to Maarjamäe but officially it is part of the centre! The centre actually goes down to Järve Keskus, and includes the whole lake Ülemiste so the border of the centre of Tallinn includes border of Tallinn with Rae parish.
It is one of the nicest houses there from 1960's, Lillepaviljon (http://www.lillepaviljon.eu/?go=gallery&g=5&big=40).
Masterpiece. Excellent example of 1960's for everyone to see.
Close to Kauge street.
In the same area.
Between Pärnu road and the railway.
Pärnu mnt. (Pärnu road)
New block in town!
Mostly the pair of two buildings that greet people when they enter Tallinn from South and if you want to get to Viru square that is at the very centre of Tallinn, then you are still roughly 12 km away...
Remnants of soldiers' houses in the soviet-time border zone.
This was taken from somewhere in Viimsi. Pelguranna buildings are roughly 10 km away over the bay.
I highly suggest this eating place. The prices are extremely low, probably the lowest in whole Tallinn, but food is very good, it is a very nostalgic place and reminds me soviet time A LOT! Don't worry about the queue out of the building -- the eating room is small but long queue helps to prevent it getting overcrowded. Somehow it works.
Same building, now renewed.
Right next to Lasnamäe, before airport.
A bit more serious piece of architecture, probably from 1980's.
Unique bricks and blocks at Sitsi street.
Seen from Tabasalu about 7-8 km away.
Norra maja (Norwegian house) and slightly older Baltika house. Umami spice shop found it's place in the latter one.
New beauty at Veerenni street.
But... what on earth was that: some stupid things in the corners! These ruin the whole nice building. It will be a building for medical institutions.
I'm not sure where I took them.
Probably in Sikupilli/Lasnamäe.
This is also probably in Lasnamäe.
Few random streetviews
Views on Paldiski mnt.
Järvevana tee before it was totally renewed.
Tallinn-Väike train stop before it was renewed, that is, as it was quite probably for decades.
Probably in Kristiine.
